House Gutting in Hamilton
Full house gutting for renovations and additions. We take the interior back to the studs by hand, sort the metal, concrete and brick, and hand you a clean, open shell ready for your trades.
Gutting a house down to the studs
A full house gut clears every interior finish so your contractor can rebuild with new wiring, plumbing, insulation and layout. We remove plaster and lath or drywall, ceilings, flooring to the subfloor or joists, kitchens, bathrooms, trim, doors and fixtures. Exterior walls, framing and anything on your keep list stay put.
Older homes across Hamilton, Dundas and Brantford are often plaster and lath, which is heavy, dusty work. We bag and wheel it out along a protected path and sweep the job every day, so neighbours and other trades are not working around piles of debris.

Planning a house gut: what to sort out first
Before the walk-through, it helps to know three things: which walls and fixtures are staying, whether utilities need to be disconnected or capped by your plumber and electrician, and whether a designated substance report is needed. Homes built before the 1990s can contain asbestos in plaster, flooring or insulation. That testing, and any abatement, is done by a licensed abatement company before we start.
Once those are settled, we give you a written scope, a schedule and a bin plan, and we stick to them.

It depends on size, plaster versus drywall, how many kitchens and baths, and access for the bin. After a free walk-through we give you a fixed written quote, usually within 48 hours.
No. If testing finds asbestos or other designated substances, a licensed abatement company removes them first. We can start as soon as the area is cleared.
Usually not for a whole-house gut, because water, power and heat are often off. For a single floor we can seal off the work zone so the rest of the house stays livable.
A clean shell: framing, subfloor or joists, exterior walls and anything on your keep list. Nails are pulled, floors are swept and the bins are gone or ready for pickup.
